Water, Grow, Rise: 10 Steps to Improving Self Research

Our Most Important Relationship Is The One We Curate With Ourselves.

Curate (Verb): to take charge of or organize; to pull together, sift through, and select for presentation, as music or website content; to be in charge of

Water, grow, rise is an interpretation of the cycle of life like in science class when they showed an image that had a circle made of arrows to present the water cycle or the growth of an animal or the food chain. We can imagine that our lives exemplify that cycle in a way that includes all three of those ideas. Knowing the complexities of humans and appreciating (definition: increasing in value) my love for learning  is how this title came to be. We water our cells on a molecular level with the thoughts we entertain and the words we speak; We grow cyclically with those ideas nurturing the vessel; And we rise regardless. Every opportunity we are given is an opportunity to take charge of our existence and curate the life we want. As a New Yorker I had to go seek true nature to nurture myself  in the concrete garden many call home. It made things easier for me and I want that for you; so I am sharing 10 ways that I improved my self research in order to love the life I live and live a life I love.

WATER

  1. Treat Yourself As A Science Experiment: Although this may sound a little odd to many the idea  is that we embrace the foundation of science and use that to give ourselves space to be. In my experience the foundation of science is Idea, Hypothesis, Failure, Success. There is a quote quoted in Failure: Why Science Is So Successful by Stuart Firestien that reads “If a machine is expected to be infallible, it cannot also be intelligent.” – Alan Turing ( A mathematician and computer scientist) Our ability to act on an idea and potentially fail is what makes us intelligent beings. We are gifted this amazing body that functions like a machine, and we always use the result of action to make another decision. The essence of science if you will.
  2. Acknowledge Your Experience: To acknowledge is to admit to be real or true: recognize the existence, truth or fact of; what we want to recognize is that we have experienced situations that contributed to us feeling a multitude of ways. More times than not the experiences that we have repressed and don’t want to remember are the ones that will help us grow the most once they are acknowledged; a part of the watering process. After we have accepted that we are an experiment it is a key to take account of past ideas we have accepted as true. For example if we have always associated fear and anxiety to the sight or sound of pigeons then we have accepted that pigeons are scary in our life. However we can also recall moments where pigeons are not scary because to many they are just harmless birds and the “worst” that can happen is them pooping on you; and even then some people believe that’s good luck. Our experiences are important to acknowledge but like a lesson you haven’t been to or “forgot” about you wont know where to start until you remember where you started; And every moment is an opportunity to start again.
  3. Don’t Be Afraid To Try: These bodies are wired to function in a symbiotic way. A way that flows seamlessly. It does everything we need naturally and one of those functions is emotion. Or as some like to say energy in motion. The science behind an emotion is a chemical release triggered by external stimuli to  remind our brains that we have experienced something similar before. The thing about these chemical releases, including the one we call fear,  is that our experiences greatly contribute to the act of receiving the emotion and why, but that does not mean that they are always the truth of our environment at that moment. It simply means we have convinced ourselves that the external stimuli reminds us of an experience that was scary, or made us happy, or annoyed, or even frustrated. Therefore being afraid is more about remembering that the situation can be scary. And then we can remind ourselves that we are safe in the midst of the feeling and do the scary thing. Which is usually followed by a great feeling and a little laugh because it wasn’t nearly as scary as you thought it would be.
  4. Remember How Others Influence Your Feelings: Take heed when you feel subconscious (a feeling or thought existing or operating in the mind beneath or beyond awareness) of yourself, what you’re doing, how you’re doing it and who you are around when you feel like that. There are a million ways to save the world; Everyone would be able to do it differently and achieve the same result. I say this to say that sometimes our subconscious thoughts can create anxiety around energies that are not fully accepting of individual  uniqueness. In the words of Leon Thomas “Vibes don’t lie” and we can feel and share energy when in the same vicinity. So if you know that you are typically okay with the way you do things and then you get around someone and you start second guessing and overthinking your actions it can be the other energy in the space. There is always room for improvement so that doesn’t mean there is anything wrong it just means to keep that in mind when you are watering your trust within as without. Trusting your idea and hypothesis is another key  in the experiment because it is yours to fail and succeed at.

GROW

  1. Go Where The Peace Is: 5 is a numeric representative of change and is also a life changing part in this process. Where the deep connection begins by doing things that you genuinely enjoy doing. If you’re like me and you find peace or joy in all things because you’re an adaptable being, it helps to think about the activities that brought you joy as a child. I began to learn in my own experiment that there were activities I enjoyed a lot more than others by remembering what I spent a lot of time doing as a child. Upon reflection I noticed in my adult years I did those things less not because I wanted to, but because others did not understand why I liked those particular things so much; And I cared too much about what they thought.     If you have been through a lot of physical, mental, and/or emotional trauma this will be a pivotal step in helping your body feel safe again. It is all a part of growth beginning to recognize the pattern you have allowed yourself to continue; And creating a safe environment for mind, body, and soul is necessary for reaching a point beyond your wildest dreams. When you are having fun and at peace nothing is scary, all you desire is possible and even more is too but you have to know there is no enemy inside or outside of you. Even if others say they don’t like what you do. All is here for you to understand you better.
  2. Use Your Imagination: You imagination is going to be in motion throughout all parts of this experiment; I however feel like emphasizing it following when you reach that space of bliss, peace, and feeling safe for two reasons:  There is likely  no one around to encourage your energy; and you have learned enough about yourself to remember that your body reacts better when your thoughts are kind and caring, even if you reach a moment of failure, which is just the step before success. With that knowledge, I encourage daydreaming or writing or both about what you want even if it seems unlikely. Embrace the inner child wonder that dreams big and wants more out of life. It is in knowing that  you want more that allows you to remember you can have more and in turn reminds you to make space for more by letting go of what’s no longer needed.
  3. Create Space: Which brings us to creating space. When learning more about yourself and how other  energies influence yours you’ll do this naturally but to be specific, distancing yourself from people, places, and things that remind you of the way you used to act or bring you back to being  the version of you you don’t want to be. This part can be challenging because it is difficult for some people to remove themselves from their circumstances. Now although that may be ideal and if you can do that, it’s a rapid way to transition; There are other ways. Make time for yourself, even if it starts with 15 minutes off intentionally  removing yourself from all people and sitting in silence;  going for a walk; tuning everyone out with music. So many ways to embody the limitlessness you are, it’s just easier with no one around.

RISE

  1. Practice Perfect: Now that you have become familiar with your energy, and who you are, you can practice the process until it is second nature to move with wonder and be gentle to yourself when you have reached the moment of failure before your inevitable success. Perfection to me is authenticity. Many say perfection isn’t possible but that’s because they have an image attached to it. There is perfection in all things if you allow it to be exactly what it is. Flowers, Trees, Animals. The disintegration of a plant or mauling of prey can be described as imperfect, if you only believe in one part of that being’s existence as the entirety. Perfection is the multifacetedness of each vessel; The fact that there are so many ways to be and the individual gets to choose because it is all a part of the creator all.
  2. Reframe Your Thoughts About Yourself: Observe your thought pattern. There will be moments that your thoughts remind you of where you are not. This doubt is normal when the physical surroundings don’t quite match the vision of the future you have imagined. However that doesn’t stop us from being able to reframe what we think about where we are physically to match how we are getting to where we want to be. When those doubts arise instead of accepting that it is true think of a new way to think about you; a way that feels more kind. A way that reassures the growth you have made and confirms the rising of your frequency. How you have stepped up and now curate your life by remembering who you are. How you make time for the things you enjoy instead of always doing things because of someone else. How you have been able to choose to feel better because you acknowledge your experience and therefore are no longer triggered by reminders of it. Instead you have grown from it.
  3.  Affirm The Thoughts Rooted In How You WANT To Feel: Affirm is to state or assert positively; Maintain as true, which could be mistaken for reframe. The difference is that the affirmations get you further away from the doubt as you rise higher and higher in frequency. The reframing is for the doubt specifically. When you think about the way that you want to constantly feel it is likely rooted in the love for self. Life deserves to be loved, and encouraged, and embraced by positivity. We see in the experiments with flowers and water that when it is spoken to negatively the growth is stunted. We are the flowers of this concrete garden and we are made up of 90 percent water (which innately has different phases based on climate). So let us embrace our perfection; Encourage our phases; And affirm our nature which is the changes that we experience throughout the experiment. The state of perfection.

Then you rinse and repeat. There is always room for improvement in every aspect of life. That does not change the innate greatness in all of us. That being said, this 10 step process can be done over and over again. When a goal is reached and a new idea takes the forefront of the mind. When all we want is to exist with no goal in mind at all. It applies to any and everything that pleases the heart.

I love you x Infinity
